Starting out on a Nickelodeon show is a great way for a young actor to begin their career. They get exposure to the work that being part of a TV show requires, but they also still get to be young. For actress Emma Roberts, who started in Unfabulous in 2004, the role has helped propel her forward and give her the opportunity to work on a number of other TV series and movies since that time. On the show, she played a seventh grader, and just a year after that she was lending her voice to several songs that were used on the soundtrack.
Making Some Music for Her Nickelodeon Audience
At that time, Roberts had expressed interest in pursuing her musical talent and making a career from it. She may still do that in the future, but for right now, she’s moved away from Nickelodeon and into more mature roles that fit her growing career. She’s a spokeswoman for the Neutrogena brand and has had roles in Blow with Johnny Depp and other movies. She was also in several teen movies, like Aquamarine and Nancy Drew.
Roberts has played several characters in the series American Horror Story over the course of seasons three, four, and seven, and is back for another role in Season 12. She’s had roles in movies such as Valentine’s Day, Twelve, and Scream 4. It’s clear that the niece of actress Julia Roberts is making a name for herself in Hollywood and getting noticed for her talent and the quality acting she brings to her roles.
Being a Mom and the Future of Her Career
She’s also matured on a personal level and became a mom in 2020. Her son, Rhodes, makes occasional appearances on her Instagram account, and she shares his milestones and other experiences with her ex-partner and co-parent Garrett Hedlund. Even though the couple is no longer together, they’re committed to making sure their son has a great life and plenty of adventures.
What’s next for Roberts? She hasn’t openly discussed where her next roles are taking her, but after Season 12 of AHS is over, it’s likely viewers and fans will find her in plenty of other series and movies in the future. Her career is really just getting started, and she has opportunities for additional parts she may want to play as her son grows up, and she adds more acting roles to her resume.
